Always somewhere interesting. Life is never dull with you around. People tend to like you, want to kill you, respect you, or admire you, sometimes in equal measure. Given the opportunity foes will not kill you outright instead either capturing you or lecturing you on their superiority and sometimes will reveal some of their plans to you in their monologue.

When finding things that are not yours, they tend to have an additional complication: It's stolen, cursed, possessed, interesting side effects, haunted, a mystery. Perhaps you find a horse and it turns out it was stolen from the kings stables. You get bitten by a mosquito carrying a rare disease etc.

Reality distortion field. When activating travel magic (magical portals etc), they often don't function entirely as intended, sending you somewhere slightly off the beaten track, or into a complex situation that needs solving. Wherever (or whenever) you turn up, there's rarely nothing there of interest.
