The Zero-Level Funnel

In Hexidecimate, characters begin as zero-level commoners. They must survive their first adventure before choosing a class.

Step 1: Generate Attributes

Roll or assign your six attributes:
  • CON (Constitution) - Physical toughness and endurance
  • AGL (Agility) - Speed, reflexes, and coordination
  • MAG (Magic) - Arcane power and magical aptitude
  • WIL (Willpower) - Mental fortitude and determination
  • SDF (Steadfast) - Combat awareness, melee prowess, and physical resistance
  • LIF (Life Force) - Vitality and resistance to death

Step 2: Roll Occupation

Roll D100 on the occupation table. Your occupation determines:
  • Starting equipment
  • A bonus ability (some occupations)
  • Background flavor

Step 3: Determine Starting HP

Zero-level characters start with D3 hit points.

Step 4: Roll Random Abilities

Roll for 2 random starting abilities from the ability table.

Step 5: Psitalent Check

Roll to determine if you have latent psionic potential. On a successful check, you may later choose the Psyker class.

Step 6: Survive!

Play through the funnel adventure. If you survive, proceed to Step 7.

Step 7: Choose Your Class

Upon reaching Level 1, choose from the available classes:
  • Avowed (D6) - Monks and martial artists
  • Mage (D4) - Arcane spellcasters
  • Zealot (D6) - Divine champions
  • Varlock (D6) - Demonic pact-makers
