Threat represents the ability to make reaction attacks against enemies who let their guard down.

Threatening

A character threatens the squares adjacent to them. When an enemy in a threatened square:

  • Moves out of the square
  • Uses a ranged weapon
  • Casts a spell
  • Stands up from prone (in some cases)
The threatening character may make a reaction attack.

Not Threatening

Certain conditions cause you to not threaten:

  • Being fatigued (-1H, does not threaten)
  • Being tired or more exhausted
  • Using certain actions that leave you vulnerable

Provoking Threat

Actions that provoke threat include:

  • Moving out of a threatened square
  • Ranged attacks in melee
  • Casting spells in melee
  • Standing up from prone (using primary + minor action)

Avoiding Provocation

Some abilities allow you to avoid provoking threat, and certain actions (like standing up using all actions) do not provoke.
