Petrification measures a character progressively locking up, slowing, paralyzing, and finally becoming stone.
A target usually makes a Steadfast save per round against petrification. If they succeed, they continue to become petrified, progressing to the next condition at the end of the round. If they make three successes before they are petrified, they shake it off. A critical save counts as two successes. Petrification does not worsen on a round where the target makes their save.
